Sorry I've got to go with Oldbag on this- Did I ever mention I was a closet Ace Attorney fan? You know it's a good game when you can play it in 7th grade and constantly revisit it up to freshman year in college! Either way, I guess I never mentioned it earlier, but I got pretty sick during the Winter Break, and I couldn't do much but watch tv or play games, since I found it was actually really hard to focus on drawing sketches surprisingly, and so I've been pretty slow with everything slightly because of that, and the fact that I can't get my head straight at times, so I'm really sorry about that! As I was sick, I guess I thought of this guy, as he and some other characters have some interesting parallels with certain characters... And so I revisited it again! I really had a big one for Phoenix, but now upon being a bit older, it's really changed to Edgeworth, heheh. As you might know already, I'm a pretty big fan of character development, and Edgeworth by far has the most in the three games. It's awesome how he's that jackass in the beginning, then start the you-know-what case and you completely sympathize with him. And then he just becomes even greater. It's funny that I never noticed some things until know, like how he has a social interaction problem, which is really evident at the end of the last case in the 2nd game, when you rescue Maya, and Edgeworth awkwardly tries to tell her that he's happy she's safe, and she says something along the lines of "You're improving!" And he doesn't quite know what to say again. It's funny, because no matter how professional and confident with his court work, even when working with Phoenix as pals, when it comes to idle chat, he really doesn't know how to interact, like a little boy- And I'm pretty sure it's because of being with anti empathy Manfred von Karma, which is pretty cool to consider with all these character traits. Gahh, I like the guy. They could have left him as some eternal rival and bad guy, but they didn't, and made him just as lovable as Phoenix or Maya. I wish he could somehow see his dad again, through some medium... Either way, I drew that famous picture from the DL-6 case, leaving some evidence in the picture if you know what I mean... Either way, it's vague, so you can get the feeling that "maybe the dream was true..." If you know what I mean. It was definitely interesting, trying to draw a dead body, in that weird position- Made me feel a bit bad for Gregory there... And I tried something new with the line art color, and the fact that I don't draw blood stains too often was different for me, but hey, it helps! I'll admit, drawing the characters from that game really helps with making facial variety if you ever need help. Spoilers though, von Karma really made case 4 like, the best ever, with that tazer and all that Edgeworth. I really enjoy the fact that the series really has its own personality, like, at first I thought it'd would be like any other generic anime game with the characters doing certain generic roles, but it completely wowed me back then, and playing it now it doesn't feel like anime, just really good characters that you actually wind up caring about. When I first met Gumshoe, I thought he was a complete asshole, and that definitely changed! I'm just saying, I really recommend at least the first game to all of you, because in a way it really did influence me on my humor and characters (Strangely Geno is kind of a mix between Nick and Edgey now that I notice) and the friendship with Nick and Edgey and Larry, kind of like Mario, Geno and Bowser in a way for me. Either way, if you don't get the picture, play the game! You won't regret it.
Oh, and Edgeworth is also secretly a major fan of the Steel Samurai kids show too. Not joking. And he has a dog at his house that he sometimes puts his scarf thingy on and talks to like his best friend. Not joking.
I guess you've got a pretty distinctive style, since I was able to tell who drew this before I even went down to see your da name. (Of course, if I'd not forgotten in the first place...) Anyway, it looks very good!
We just started playing the first three games on the WII virtual console last year (2012). To be honest we never thought much of series (believing it was nothing but hype when saw some brief play-throughs on youtube and animation shorts newgrounds about it). After playing the demo (out of boredom) we ended up buying the games and it officially became one of our favorite series now.
Thanks! Yeah, it's not often I get to draw dead people, haha. The manga doesn't really match the game, it's really just fan service. xD What part were you demoing out of curiosity?
Thank you! It was different, haha. They honestly didn't catch my attention either, I thought it would be like Trauma Center only with lawyer stuff, but my mom got it for me anyway before a major trip somewhere, and I couldn't play it until I got home (She forgot it) and I was completely surprised. It really did hook me in, as the characters were surprisingly endearing and the writing was flat out hilarious! I recommend if you do, start with the first game, Ace Attorney- If that one doesn't hook you in then there's no point in trying the next two! Apollo Justice is kind of meh, so I wouldn't try that one. Just try Ace Attorney, I don't like anime-ish games usually, so if I'm making fanart, it's usually a good one, trust me! xD
